For all Voters...

The polls are nearing.
I do not think I have a chance to vote because the voter's card hasn't come yet.
But for all those who get to vote I have one suggestion (or advice if you may call it that!)

Think only about the candidate in your constituency.

Do not vote for a particular party just because you like their prime ministerial candidate.
After all who you vote in your constituency will ultimately matter to you. Not the head dude/dudette in the PM's chair.
Check the records of the candidates running for the LS polls. Make sure they have good records, that they are not criminals and that they keep the promises they have made.

www.mumbaivotes.com is an excellent site to check on your candidates credibility (although limited to Mumbai). I would like to thank Mr. Satish VijayKumar of Bombaylives! for this great information.

Start thinking from the grass root levels. Remember one thing " Drops make an ocean"

When you select good candidates at constituency level, in my opinion, the whole nation will be benefited.

  2. Your thoughts are good about how to choose ur candidate. But somewhere, smells like they are biased and are against a specific political party. BUT ANY WAYS AFTER ALL ITS YOUR BLOG AND YOUR OPINION.

But, friend, I dint understand this-> "After all who you vote in your constituency will ultimately matter to you. Not the head dude/dudette in the PM's chair."

I feel this statement is utterly unacceptable. It does not carry any sense.

    Does that mean ?
1.PM has no powers to change the country's future or affect the lives of its masses
2.A constituency is different & totally independent from its country.
3.An elected candidate (i.e MP) has all the powers (more than the Government / PM) to affect the lives of the voters from his/her constituency.
4.LokSabha elections are held to elect the MPs only, not the Government and ultimately the PM.

I feel, a voter not only votes for his candidate but also for the party he/she belongs to.B'coz that voter believes in that party's agenda and ideology, and put trust on that party's candidate that he/she will follow the same agenda that party has declared.
And I don't see anything is wrong with this view point of voters.

  3. @ Tejas

    1. No they are not biased against any political party (in your case the BJP). I neither love nor follow any of the political parties may it be Congress or BJP or any damn party.

    2. "After all who you vote in your constituency will ultimately matter to you. Not the head dude/dudette in the PM's chair."

An example. When there is no water supply in your area you contact your local corporator/MP not the PM. If you select a good candidate then he will be prompt in coming to your aid.If you select a bad person, you might as well roam around with parched throats.
Once again I have said the MP of yoru constituency will ULTIMATELY and IMMEDIATELY matter to you. I have never said that the PM does not matter to anyone.

1.PM has no powers to change the country's future or affect the lives of its masses
A: I have never said this. A PM does have the power. After all he is the person who must lead his country.

2.A constituency is different & totally independent from its country.
A: Once again, I have never said that. Refer to the last line of the post.
It is like saying that the various parts of body are independent. Running a body smoothly requires team work from all the parts. When all body parts function properly it is then that the body functions well. I hope you get the analogy.

3.An elected candidate (i.e MP) has all the powers (more than the Government / PM) to affect the lives of the voters from his/her constituency.
A: Where do I imply this in the article please point out!
Please refer to the answer to "After all who you vote in your constituency will ultimately matter to you. Not the head dude/dudette in the PM's chair."

4.LokSabha elections are held to elect the MPs only, not the Government and ultimately the PM.
A: Wrong again. They are held to elect the government and the PM. But they are ALSO held to elect the people's representatives at constituency level. If the PM would have been able to attend to your and mine grievances we would never have required MPs.
The MPs are DIRECTLY,ULTIMATELY,IMMEDIATELY responsible for their constituency's populace and their welfare.

About your comments towards the end:
"I feel, a voter not only votes for his candidate but also for the party he/she belongs to.B'coz that voter believes in that party's agenda and ideology, and put trust on that party's candidate that he/she will follow the same agenda that party has declared."

Fine with me. But what if the party gives the fields a candidate with a criminal background, a corrupt candidate? Will you still vote for the party's 'ideology' and the flashy pamphlets they call 'manifesto's' which are never adhered to?
Will you let a criminal be your MP just because you want your favorite man/woman to be your PM?
Once again it will be you, yourself who will complain about the MP later.
The whole point of the post was to appeal to voters to concentrate more on the MP candidate for their constituency because I do beleive that "Drops make an ocean"
If you have clean water drops you get a sparkling clean ocean else yuo end with a Worli gutter.
